Hi,
First of all, please forgive me for not writing in Dutch, as I have recently moved to Netherlands and still taking classes to learn the language.

I have always drove BMW's but not in Netherlands. My question is, where do you guys repair your car? BMW garage cost a fortune and I see it as a rip of to be honest. I live in Amsterdam, and I am looking for a reasonable garage that can maintain my car. I am buying an e39 540d Special Edition 2004.

Please share your knowledge with a buitenlander :)

Cheers,
Moe

Hello Moe,

Your car is so special that no garage in Holland can service it ;-) (I think you mean a 530d instead of an 540d)
On topic. I service all my BMW's at Bas Roos Autosport in Oss. It's about an hour drive from Amsterdam but the knowledge and service is unique in Holland. Most of the people who drive competion with a bmw are formiliare with them. The price is also very good.

Grtz

Hello Eric,

My bad, it's 530d as you mentioned.

Would you please tell me more about the BMW running cost? As I mentioned, I am new here, and I still don't know how much the car will cost me. I am aware of the different taxes and fuel prices, I just would like to know more about the maintenance and the labour charges? Do they charge per hour? If yes, how much? A regular inspection " the 20,000 Kms" inspection for example, will cost how much?

Forgive me asking many questions, the wife is totally against me buying the car, saying I need a fortune to keep it running in holland. She is the reason I moved here anyway :)

Thanks,
Moe

I know a specialist in Amsterdam but I only have his phone number. He recently moved out of his shop and I don't know where he relocated to.
Auto Molenaar is in Purmerend, nice people, not too far from Amsterdam,

Maintaining a BMW is not expensive, just depends to whom you bring it: trust your mechanic!

Cheers!

A diesel in that weight class is very expensive in taxes, only if you drive more than let's say 19.000km a year is't better to drive diesel, otherwise choose for gas(benzine).

I've bought my car at BMW tuner www.schmiedmann.nl around Hoofddorp, near amsterdam
Noorddammerweg 1C
1424NV Uithoorn

It''s a medium garage where you can get advise for personal repairs, you're not a number there

Hello everyone,

Similar to the topic, I have a BMW 318d F31. It stopped working suddenly without any rotation anymore from the engine. ANWP tested it and they said most probably the timing chain is damaged, and that could mean that the engine is completely damaged.
Do you know any specialied garage not far from Amersfoort (where I have my car) so they can do the diagnosis and fix it? (Not BMW dealers as they are super expensive :( )
I was searching on the internet and I found Mago automotive who looks very professional in that topic, but they are near Eindhoven.
Thanks for your support.
